Thailand border crossings and travel advice
Checked 8 October 2026: UK government travel advice says Thailand–Cambodia land crossings remain suspended. Confirm an official reopening before relying on a crossing for a booked connection.
Thailand–Cambodia: check before booking
The advisory also reports closed attractions near the border. Check the named crossing, entry rules on both sides and your own government’s advice before travel. This dated summary cannot predict when a checkpoint will reopen.
If your journey depends on a land crossing
Replan before paying for connecting road transport. A flight may avoid the land crossing, but check the airline’s operating schedule and entry requirements for the destination; a flight listing is not permission to enter. Ask your carrier about changes to an existing booking.
Other borders need separate checks
Do not apply the Cambodia status to every Thai border. Laos checkpoints can differ in eligibility for foreign travellers. Myanmar has separate security and entry constraints. Southern-border advice is geographically specific. Confirm the checkpoint name and the whole approach route, not just whether a nearby town is open.
Before an overland departure
- Check current official notices for both sides of the named checkpoint.
- Confirm passport, visa and onward-travel requirements with the relevant authorities.
- Ask the operator whether its service is running and what happens if access changes.
- If reliable confirmation is unavailable, postpone that crossing or choose a verified alternative.
