Bangkok BTS and MRT: maps, tickets and transfers
BTS and MRT are different systems. Find your two stations on the official BTS and MRT maps, then check each line, interchange and fare. An interchange does not necessarily mean one fare or one ticket.
Official maps and fare tools
Read the station names as well as the colours. A map connection can include a walk and another fare gate. Keep time for a new ticket, luggage and the station exit nearest your destination.
Which line serves the journey?
| System | Lines and scope |
|---|---|
| BTS / BTSC | Sukhumvit: Kheha to Khu Khot. Silom: National Stadium to Bang Wa. |
| MRT Blue and Purple / BEM | Use BEM’s system map and fare tools for these lines. |
| MRT Pink / Northern Bangkok Monorail | Nonthaburi Civic Center to Min Buri: the Pak Kret, Chaeng Watthana and Ram Inthra corridor. |
| MRT Yellow / Eastern Bangkok Monorail | A separate monorail line; check its own service and ticket information. |
The Pink Line corridor is not the BTS Sukhumvit or Silom route.
Transfers to check on the map
Common BTS–MRT pairs include Asok–Sukhumvit, Sala Daeng–Si Lom and Mo Chit–Chatuchak Park. Station names can differ across a transfer. Use the map and station signs to check the walk, direction and accessible route rather than assuming platforms are shared.
Tickets and the last train
- Use the operator’s fare tool for your origin and destination.
- Check accepted tickets or payment cards for every line; compatibility is not universal.
- Check the last departure from your actual boarding station in the direction you need.
- For a transfer near closing time, check the connecting line too; the first train’s departure is not a guarantee of the final connection.
